HOW TO

Make Matcha the Star of Your Next Dinner Party

The espresso martini's glow-up. Same energy, less jitters.

Now, I know we all drink matcha for different reasons. As a proud Leo, I can say I enjoy a matcha on a busy work morning, but also as an evening pick-me-up. Yes, an espresso martini can work, but coffee doesn't sit well with my sensitive stomach (IYKYK).

So picture this: it's a Friday evening, you've had an early mark from your 9 to 5. You've been on the tools all week (Instagram and TikTok, shoutout to my SPAM girlies), and you're finally off the clock. What better way to celebrate than with a Matchatini? A delicious cocktail designed for the mind, the body, and the beginning of a long night out.

The recipe is so simple, even lazy old me can pull it off in 5 minutes. Now, before you hate on it, it does not taste like grass. But I'll let you be the judge of that. All you need is a good matcha powder and five minutes.

The Matchatini
Serves 1 · ready in about 5 minutes
  • 45ml vodka (or season to your taste)
  • 1 teaspoon Morning Made Original matcha powder
  • 2 tbsp warm water (not boiling)
  • Your choice of milk (I like coconut, or maybe I just like being difficult)
  • 15ml fresh lemon juice
  • Sweetener of your choosing (depending how sweet you like it)
01
Whisk the matcha

In a small bowl or shaker tin, whisk the matcha powder with the warm water until smooth. Take your time here, nobody wants clumpy matcha bits floating in their matchatini.

02
Add everything else

Add the vodka, milk, lemon juice, and sweetener to the same shaker along with a generous handful of ice.

03
Shake it

Seal it up and shake properly, not the sad little wrist wiggle, actually shake until your hands feel cold.

04
Strain, taste, adjust

Strain into a chilled matchatini glass. Taste it, adjust the sweetener if needed, and try again next time if you got it wrong. That's the process.

Notes

Taste as you go before you shake it all together, the amount of sweetener you need really depends on your milk choice and how tangy you like things.
